Employee of the Utah Division of Motor and Vehicle was giving out people”s personal information.
The Utah Division of Motor and Vehicle suffered a security breach; however, this time was not a hacker who accessed the database. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, a DMV employee was selling people’s private information.
The security breach was discovered in mid-March and the employee was fired as a result of her actions. DMV spokesman confirmed that social security numbers and date of birth were not compromised; but, information associated to the car registration was accessed.
The employee’s computer and printer were taken to the forensics for further investigation. The Utah DMV’s software security is being upgrading. In conclusion, hackers are not the only ones who wants people’s personal information.
