Rocky Mountain Document Destruction - A Division of ACE Recycling & Disposal

Salt Lake City, Utah (Tuesday, January 12, 2021) Rocky Mountain Document Destruction announces its partnership with “Success in Education” (SIE) today. RMDD will donate the value of the recycled paper it shreds back to SIE to help implement their programs.

Success in Education is a non-profit group in Utah focused on helping children in school succeed through one of their three programs. “We believe in the lifelong, transformative power oof an engaging education. That is why we’re dedicated to enhancing and enriching scholastic experiences by creating, enabling, and integrating programs that change the world.”

“Success in Education is pleased to have Rocky Mountain Document Destruction join us in our mission to change the world – one student at a time. Their sponsorship contributes to the dissemination of free college and career readiness tools for Utah students, from learning to read in elementary school, all the way to earning scholarships and receiving job training in high school and beyond. We are grateful that an esteemed group such as Rocky Mountain Document Destruction is dedicated to the successes of Utah students, and has joined Success in Education as a sponsor.”

SIE’s three programs are “Code to Success,” “Keys to Success,” and “Road to Success.” Through these three programs, SIE has donated to over 200 schools and nearly 250,000 students. It has helped these students access more than $130 million in scholarships and tuition waivers. After STEM was implemented in 2013, SIE created its newest program, “Code to Success,” to give kids a six-week bootcamp in coding to help them learn one of six languages.

“As the management of Rocky Mountain Document Destruction looked for a way to give back to the community, we chose the success in education foundation as our way. The idea of giving back to the education foundation will have a ripple effect in the community, businesses and homes,” said Larry Gibbons, Managing Senior Partner. “Plus, we liked the phrase: ‘You can shred for Ed.'”

About Success In Education

We believe that our educational system should be grounded in a commitment to excellence. Act now to empower our children, to preserve our economy, and to solidify our future.

Code to Success

OVERVIEW
Code to Success Utah offers summer coding boot-camps for high school-aged students. Our mission is to bridge the gap between education and industry by getting students interested in programming starting in high school, aiming to set them on a successful educational pathway in computer science.

PURPOSE
Code to Success offers a unique curriculum with a focus on HTML, CSS, Java Script, and REACT which provides a well-rounded coding experience for students. Towards the end of the program, students and industry professionals connect at our Tech Networking Graduation event.

BEYOND UTAH
In Summer 2020 as a response to COVID-19 and the rising demand for remote learning, Code to Success partnered with the Idaho Technology Council to launch a summer program for Idaho students statewide. With support from state government, private enterprise, and the Idaho STEM Action Center, Code to Success: Idaho Codes received over 1,700 registrations from determined and motivated students.

CURRICULUM EXPANSION
In the 2020-2021 school year, Code to Success plans to expand the types of curriculum offered in order to stay current with trends in the field and to diversify learning opportunities for students. These curriculum opportunities include cyber security, gaming, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and QA Testing.

TESTIMONIALS
“My favorite part [of Code to Success] was the capstone project because I got to implement everything, I learned to make the project. It was really fun seeing things I made, work, and I felt I had accomplished something.”

“The experience I had at the Tech Networking Graduation exceeded my expectations. I learned about some really cool programs and opportunities I can take advantage of in the coming years, and I’m glad I learned about them because they seemed to be really cool…I was impressed!”

Road to Success

OVERVIEW
Road to Success is designed specifically to improve the skills kids need to succeed, the program incentivizes elementary school students to read daily. Our goal is to have 90% of Utah children reading at or above grade level. We know that it is only when students, families, schools, and communities work together that our children will discover the power of words and unlock a lifetime of potential.

INTERACTIONS
As students log their reading, they are rewarded with coins, badges, and opportunities to “level up.” While their parents and teachers can view their students’ progress in real-time and stay on top of their student’s development.

HOW IT WORKS
As students log their reading, they “Level Up” through the different game worlds in the platform. There is one level for each week of the year. When students reach levels 2, 14, and 26 they get a notification that they have earned a prize!  Students enter a parent’s email if a parent is not yet assigned to their account. Their parent then receives information on how to redeem their student’s prize. Prizes range from Olympic sports games to fine arts performances! All prizes are a “family pack” meaning there are 5 tickets provided once their prize is selected! This is a great way to get young students on college campuses and start the conversation early about higher education!
